Apple picking 2010

We joined some friends for apple picking a few weeks ago.  Paula Reds and Harvest Golds were on our menu...
David, Korsen, Brody and Logan
Group shots are a bit of a gamble with toddlers...this was the best I could do...it was a very disctractingly big tractor.

Last beachday 2010

The boys and I enjoyed an unusually warm Sunday at the end of August at Pemaquid Beach.  I must have been nuts to think I could manage it, but the temps were in the  90s, and it was such a lovely day...

First Day of School 2010

Today marked Brody's first day in his 3-morning a week preschool.  He attended for 2 mornings a week, last year, and feels quite grown up to now attend 3 mornings a week.

getting ready to leave for school

"Mommy, Buzz will be so happy to see his picture!"

Logan getting ready for "Mommy School"

The new location for Dickory Dock Nursery School
We were greeted by this sunny sign
and this friendly burrow (there is a real menagerie of equine life at this school)
Brody immediately dove into the toys, without a backward glance.

End of summer days

Include....fair hopping in Union at the Union Fair
The view from our traditional family ferris wheel ride
Logan, up close and personal
A very eager Brody
My "motorcycle mavens" as one bystander commented.  This was Logan's favorite ride.
riding with the bee
A portrait of mommy by Brody - in pink, of course.  Can anyone guess what the circle on my forehead is?

Lots and lots and lots of shucking

Pouring over the new Highlights magazine by our resident bookworm
Embarking on our first family campfire (since we have finally actually constructed the camp fire site on our property)

Trekking up the
campfire path
Pre-fire - just kindling waiting for the spark

Post-spark, a nice little fire
Our property was once a part of a much larger farm, maybe 50 years ago.  On campfire eve, Duane discover this long spike from an ancient harrow or other farm tool.
Already too sweet.
Adding some roasted marshmellows for good measure.
mmmmmmmmmmm.... s'mores.
Silly faces.
Furry faces.
