The day after Thanksgiving welcomed the holiday in true spirit.  A light dusting of snow covered our farm.
We went on a tree hunt at the Jewett's, and found three perfect trees!

Eggs, eggs, eggs

Our Rhode Island Reds and Ball Rock hens are finally layign eggs....in profusion!  Duane brings in eleven a day sometimes!

This day, we think we found a purple egg.  The lighting in the picture doesn't do justice to the egg, but trust me, it was a lovely shade of lavendar.

Foodie

We been enjoying the last of the fall harvest - the boys  love pumpkin pie, made from some locally grown sugar pumpkins.

Demolishing the pie
A beautifully barbequed chicken dinner - thanks Duane.  Looks like we'll be doubling our chicken flock next Spring - we are loving our chicken.

When I cracked into our first egg of the season (which was surprisingly oblong), there were 2 yolks inside!  A double-yolkah! (the two yolks up top)

Days of Play

I really treasure these days I can be a part of my children's imaginations - what fun to be 4 and struggle through the travels of Buzz Lightyear and Hot Wheels.
This is a large mountain Brody made of play dough toys.

Building Boys

A real heart-squeezer - both boys playing with one of my childhood toys

Shutterfly for Bloggers

Shutterfly is offering a wonderful opportunity for bloggers.  Visit their website, http://blog.shutterfly.com/5358/holiday2010-blog-submission-form/, to learn more details.  It basically involves a free gift of 50 cards for bloggers willing to share a post about Shutterfly.  I was very fortunate to have uploaded several pictures for calendar printing when Brody was a baby - and this secured those memories for me, even after our house fire.

Thanks to Shutterfly for offering such a generous gift for many families in their time of need!

All the Pretty Little Horses

Last week I was cooking dinner when I heard this very sweet voice singing downstairs.  I have been singing this particular lullaby to Brody since he was born, and he adores his "Hush-A-Bye" song.  This lullabye is now in our current music class rotation as well, so now Bubba has learned the song, too.

Bat Boys

I have one more montage to share from the season.  This is from our craft day with Jim and Tina - thanks, Jim, for the montage!

Happy Halloween 2010

This was the first year that both boys understood what Trick-or-treating was really about. At the end of our travels, Brody asked to visit another 21 homes, hoping to expand his loot.

At the library's Halloween Party - we were so thrilled to see Zoe, our babysittter!

Our home, decked out for Halloween.  I found a box of lit spiderwebs in storage, and neither Duane nor I know how they appeared - spooky.  So we (he) hung them up!

The first pumpkin is a self-portrait of our friend Jim (by the artist himself), then there is my spider pumpkin (whose legs were quite tasty, proclaims our dog, Maggie), and then our "Rocket" pumpkin for Logan.
Duane's Tall pumpkin is first  here, then Tina's porcupine (which is so stinkin' cute!) and Brody's "Mad" Pumpkin

I just love that porcupine

And the youngun's post-trick-or-treating
I love Brody's stink-eye here

The best treat of all - our first egg from our new batch of chickens

Happy Halloween To You!
