soooo big

Yes, my 5-year old still naps.  But not for much longer.  After all, kindergarten is only 6 months away.

I hear there are no naps in kindergarten....shhhhh - don't tell him that.
Really, napping is my way of postponing the inevitable.  Just stopping time for a few more months before my baby is whisked away to his bigger world.
Sweet dreams, Brody bear.

More snow...and more falling today!

Man on the mountain.  Yes, the snowbank is officially taller than the porchrail.  Ridiculous.

Someday this hill will melt - for now it is Brody's very large motorcycle.

Smelting

We had quite an adventurous outing yesterday.  Daddy took all of us on  our first smelting adventure.
 our bounty of smelts.
The little villlage of ice houses, complete with wood stoves.  Ours was #57.
Brody chose this shirt to wear this day.

 Daddy setting the lines.

The little orange disks are the bobbers.  There is an art to snagging the fish on the line just as it takes the bait - I haven't mastered that one yet, but I did unhook a few of my own.
Snacking was a primary pasttime for the boys...they did very well for the 5 hours of fishing...

And waiting
Our woodstove kept us warm and cozy.

Happy boys.

Happy Valentimes

I love the way Brody says Valentine's - Valentimes.  And he calls the valentine cards we make imvitations.  Love that boy of mine.

Today was his preschool party, with lots of fun recitations and songs, and of course, sweets.
Logan was thrilled to join - especially when the sunday-making event was underway.

Brody's cupcakes

Logan helped me taste-test the icing for Brody's birthday cupcakes at his preschool.

I remembered to load the camera with new batteries, but forgot to load the camera in my bag.  So you will just have to trust that cupcakes were enjoyed by all, especially Brody.

a typical dusting

I guess that is what old timers call today's snow storm, with 12-18 inches today.  This was more typical of winters ten years ago.  We've enjoyed a warm 10 year repreive - now back the to business of winter.

there was quite a bit of dog-boy wrestling

That little  bit of red in the snowbank is all that remains to be seen of the "Let It Snow" snowman

Happy  5 year old babe - it may take some convincing to get him outdoors,  but once he is there, he has a blast.  To his credit, the temp has only risen to 16 degree - and the wind is blowing 20 mph.
