Snow Day

The blizzard has indeed blanketed our world in a whirlwind of snow - still spinning like mad outside, I can hardly see past 20 feet or so.  Here is a glimpse of our world this morning.
Our brezeway door, absolutely covered in snow.
The doorstop greeting my dog as she went out side this morning.
Back porch and barn, pre-blizzard conditions.
 Outside of forementioned breezeway.
 Our front yard.
Somewhere buried under here is our 2 ft + stone wall surrounding a little garden in our driveway.  Somewhere.
Maybe the snow should not be so impressive, but for a  Georgia native like me, it is pure magic.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

As we certainly have!  It has been a whirlwind of wrapping paper and excited shrieks around here, and now 2 little ones are soundly resting, storing up that energy for more play post-nap.
Shortly after Santa's arrival, with the evidence under the tree....
I've really enjoyed the dual trees this year, just so festive!
First pick from the stocking - grab nabbers!!!
Stuffed dinos guarded our filled stockings.

Brody's treasure - a Rescue Squad Mater set.   I haven't yet captured Logan in picture with his beloved Snowplow Thomas train.

 The aftermath.
My goodness, it's a wonder no one has broken an ankle yet traipsing through this.

Another new soon-to-be-love - Duplo Legos....
Hope yours was very merry!

Twas the Day before Christmas

The boys are eagerly awaiting Christmas, jiggling in their beds while they should be napping. And I am enjoying the Christmas cheer scattered throughout the house.

 Santa is on his way!
Srockings hung by our chimney with care, but without the festooning of decorations.  We recently had the rock hung (?) on our fireplace (thanks Tina and Jim!), and I can't bear to cover it yet....and I'm a little lazy.
The much anticipated gifts from family and friends under our main tree.  I don't think the boys realize what is in store tomorrow morning...

White Christmas

We awoke this morning to many inches of newfallen snow. Thanks to dropping temperatures, the snow should stick around for Christmas. Here are some pics of this morning's snowplay:
Brody climbing the newly plowed snowhill.
Maggie prompty buried herself in the snow.
Maine Mountaineers!
And loving brothers to boot.
Constructing our snow family.

Our snowfamily - pardon the lack of carrots or other edibles.  Our dogs will topple snowpeople for any food apendage.
My snow angel.
The boys driving their snow car.
Our snow fort - a work in progress.  It's kind of hard to pick out from the snowy backdrop, like a  Where's Waldo of snow building.  I think Dad will need to take over construction from here.

Happy Birthday to Duane

Today is Duane's birthday, which we celebrated in an explosive style - rocket-style that is.

Duane asked for an Estes rocket for his birthday....and our two boys could not contain their excitement.

O Christmas tree

We have enjoyed three Christmas trees this season inside our home...perhaps an over-abundance, but we've had fun playing by the lights throughout the house.

We started the weekend after Thanskgiving, and I just now am getting around to posting those pictures.
Both boys were very particular with the location of each ornament.
Our plant room tree - all in color lights and homemade ornaments, including the very elaborate star on the top (thanks Jim!)
Our main mega-tree down stairs.  12 + feet of green glory.
Our sitting room / upstairs playroom tree...complete with a slightly dysfunctional trian underneath whose malfunction may or may not have been the result of an over-excited toddler...

Yuletide Greetings

Our Gingerbread village - the boys made the smaller ones at preschool, and we made the one in the middle at home - our fist from scratch!
Our Christmas village on display, surrounding our living room.

And pictures of our trees to come!

Our North Pole

We have been enjoying the magical lights of the season all around our house. Duane hung the lights over several weeks, and the wait was well worth the effort.  Thanks to Jim and Tina for their help!

Thomas greets visitors at our porch steps.

I just love those megawatt bulbs - the lighting reminds me of Santa's village  in The Polar Express.
This year we decorated a few trees along our driveway...little gems in the middle of the woods.

Our most recent inflatable - a sled of gigantic proportions for the polar bear and penguins,
with a perfect little archway for playing hide-and-seek with 2 little boys.
